thank you to over 11,000 of you who read this weekly and share with your friends and family for behind the scenes on building a million a 5 million dollar business from scratch and beyond.
i also include a personal note in the end so i am grateful that you let me do that without judgement.
one of the biggest lesson for me as i build by 3rd startup is that you have be in a learning mode all the time.
there is no substitute to learning.
the moment you say i know it all, you are finished.
my goal with GTM Partners has always been to build a life style business.
but a lot people have the wrong view of life style business.
here is what you might think life style business might look like:
4 hr work week
2 month vacations
working from a boat
work as you please with no team
here what it really looks like:
easily 50 hr work week
work at the speed of customers
work when need to and relax when you want to
building a strong core team and everything in it
you might wonder, why work so hard then.
well the benefit is that it’s my business.
i can work as hard as needed to build something and quit when i want to.
it means i will give it all and work hard to build something that is worth something.
one day, i imagine going from running the business to owning the business where there are multiple partners running their own product lines.
that’s really the goal of a life style business - own it and not run it.
it’s not about money, it’s about buying time back in your life.
on a personal note, krish had a big nationals tournament this weekend.
as of Saturday, he lost both his matches and is out of the tournament.
in other words, he won nothing and it was a complete wash.
after having won 15+ matches over the last 3 tournaments, this was the first time he got washed out so badly.
it wasn’t easy.
my question for him has been around, if this is what he wants to do, he has to learn to grow, especially when he looses.
it’s hard at 14 year old to take life lessons from his father when he just got beat bad.
our hope as parents is that if he can learn to dig himself out of a hole, fight until he got nothing left inside and honor God by giving all the glory to HIM alone, that’s a lifestyle choice.
i want him to choose the lifestyle that has hard work and reliance of God as the primary motives on which everything else can be built on.
there is no success without hard work and the grace of God.
this is a lifestyle choice.
leader point: creating a lifestyle is a choice.
