thank you to over 11,000 of you who tune in weekly and share this with your friends and family. it means the world to me to have you along for the ride as we navigate the journey of building a zero-to-10-million-dollar business (we recently crossed $6m) and beyond.
i also love adding a personal note at the end of these, and i’m so grateful for the space you give me to do that without judgment.
i'm actually tired of people saying that the only way to succeed is by doing this:
waking up at 5 am every day
cold plunges and ultra marathons
a strict plant-based diet
meditating for hours
cutting out social media
setting ridiculous goals and then “rewarding” yourself for meeting them
this isn’t a checklist for success. high achievers don’t follow a one-size-fits-all formula.
this is about how you think—and how that thinking changes everything.
because if you want to build a business that excites you, creates wealth, and makes getting out of bed feel like a heck yes instead of an ugh, do i have to?—your mindset is the foundation.
lately, i have been thinking thru this for my business.
fixed vs. growth: the fork in the road
there are two ways to approach this:
fixed mindset
you believe talent and intelligence are set in stone.
you avoid failure like the plague.
you stick to what you know you’re good at.
growth mindset
you believe effort builds intelligence and skill.
you see failure as data.
you try new things, even when they’re uncomfortable.
one keeps you stuck. the other moves you forward.
the growth mindset advantage
this isn’t just some feel-good psychology trick. a growth mindset has real business implications. it means:
you take smarter risks.
you recover faster from losses.
you build teams that adapt instead of crumble.
you create a business that gets better every single year.
and guess what? it makes life way more fun.
because when you believe you can learn, improve, and build—instead of being limited to what you were born with—business becomes a game you actually want to play.
i am having tons of growth moments in our business right now and i am in the a complete “learn-it-all” mindset.
on a personal note, since i do a lot of speaking, presenting, and working from home, i put a sign outside my door when i’m on important calls or recording.
the problem? my 10-year-old thinks it’s hilarious. she stands there, peeking inside, watching what i’m doing.
right on cue, the landscapers show up. so do the cleaning crew.
then, of course, there’s some home project that has to happen at that exact moment—cue the doorbell, the loud conversations right outside my office.
if that’s not enough, the tennis guy who strings my son’s racquet shows up, staring at me through the window, waiting to chat while i’m mid-presentation.
turns out, this sign wasn’t a “do not disturb” notice. it was an open invitation for chaos.
for a while, i got irritated. frustrated. but then reality hit—i work from home.
the chaos is part of having a family. part of having a life.
i needed to laugh at my daughter peeking in—it’s just curiosity.
so i took the sign down. and surprisingly… it’s been quiet.
funny how that works.
turns out, i needed a growth mindset this whole time. i was stuck in a fixed mindset, thinking i could control every little distraction. didn’t work.
leader point: in business and in life, your mindset is your strategy.
Growth mindset DOES make life way more fun - couldn't agree more!
