first, thank you to 10,000+ of you who have signed up and are reading + sharing the becoming intentional notes in just a few short weeks.
the goal - if you are here for the first time - is to document ONE year of the journey from start to hitting a million in revenue or fail and you will know what NOT to do :)
last week i interviewed the CEO of Hubspot Yamini Rangan in a Peak Community - a private group for emerging CMOs and CMOs.
she shared with me something that i immediately implemented.
and so can you.
the sticky note idea!
yeah! she said sometimes her sticky note stays there for a long time until she is confident that it has turned into a habit.
so i did exactly that and shared my stick note on LinkedIn and you can see here tons of people sharing their sticky notes.
here’s my stick note:
stay calm
ask questions (thoughtful and not just give answers)
be more curious (genuinely)
my goal is in 2022, this becomes my habit because i believe if i did this, i will become a better leader.
on a personal note:
what i didn’t share on LinkedIn and sharing here is my personal sticky note for my family on the other side of my laptop which is MORE important one.
so just for YOU here it is:
Manmeet is my wife and my kids are Krish and Kiara.
my prayer is that as i get busy and rushed in my day-to-day zeal and excitement for the business, i don’t miss on the little and really important things that keep me grounded.
that includes being more gentle in my words to my family.
doing 1:1 with my kids on the Saturday sabbath day to slow down and smell the roses -that’s our no-tech day!
saying “I’d happy to” to my wife when she calls me and add to the grocery list when i am almost checking out…. (this one is hard)
Andy Stanley - one of my pastors at Northpoint church asked this question that I think we should all ask - daily.
what would a great leader do?
and maybe you replace the leader with father, mother, brother, sister, teammate, employee, employer, citizen, or human…. and ask the same exact question before we react to the things that come to us, unannounced.
Leaderpoint: Run your business and life on sticky notes until it becomes a habit.
and ask - what would a great ________ do? in every situation with a dramatic pause.
so, are you ready to be vulnerable?
if so, what’s on your sticky note?
let’s share it.
