we have finally arrived.
after 6 months of consulting work and trying to find the true north - we are now clear.
so much so that in the last 4 weeks, we went from zero to this:
we are about to close 10 deals (committed)
announce our partnership with G2
new website launch
landing pages for upcoming roadshow events
keynotes for Inbound and Dreamforce/OpsStar
launch our “comprehensive guide to go-to-market” on sept 7th
Process for on-boarding new customers
20 new briefings for members and vendors
Pipeline to end the year with a total of 20 deals
now, if you would have asked me this 30 days ago - i likely would not have believed you.
but as we become clear what our north star is (will share next week the details), the deals just started to flow in.
as a result, here is what we are doing.
our small but mighty team is going to take a 4 day week off for labor day!
why - it’s not because we deserve it.
it’s because our families deserve it.
our customers deserve us to be refreshed for what we want to stay true to our promises.
but how did we get here:
we got here by having undeniable clarity and PoV that matched a perfect need in the marketplace (more on this next week)
on a personal note:
there have incredible sacrifices by the family.
as much as i wanted to have a perfect 9 to 5 schedule and present all the time for my family when needed, i had to sit down with my family and let them know that this season, is a going to be a bit different.
yes - there are days when i am on calls until 7 pm and then back on at 9 pm to work after dinner.
but i am also taking a walk with my wife 2-3 days in the middle of the days and dropping/picking kids at least twice a week
yes - i have been on 12-14 hr days given the incredible work and market demand
but i have also been able to take complete Saturday and Sunday off until after Church to make sure i wind down (I do keep a notepad to write ideas when they hit me but not try to get on the phone)
the point is, i am not perfect.
but i now know - what season i am in, how to set expectations with family and create moments to celebrate in the moment better than the last time i did a startup.
Leaderpoint: when you have clarity on your PoV, you will see success. The key is not to forget to celebrate it regularly to make yourself, your team, and most importantly your family part of the journey. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
Not surprising at all Sangram. You all have clarity and know the art of the possible! Enjoy inboud! You will have more sucess than you can plan for.....
Congratulations and so happy to hear your have found a way to unhustle even while building a startup. Can I interview you for my book?
