week 57 - focus on small commitments and not big ideas
one step at time makes all the difference
thank you to over 11,000 of you who read this weekly and share with your friends and family for behind the scenes on building a million dollar business from scratch and beyond.
i also include a personal note in the end so i am grateful that you let me do that without judgement.
the world will tell you that you gotta have big ideas.
you gotta think bigger.
you gotta do more.
but here is what i found for myself and the people i admire at work and in life.
if you are a team member - you show up on time
if you are in sales - you do proper follow up with timely and relevant content
if you are in marketing - you are quick to test new ideas
if you are a leader - you are the first to apologize and are the hardest working person on the team
the author of the book of Matthew has an interesting passage on the fact the workers are few but the harvest is plenty.
which makes me wonder if we are too sold out for big ideas and what the world really needs is this:
are you going to show up consistently,
do you do what you say, and
do you respect others for who they are.
on a personal note, i am trying to stay committed on a few things:
read my Bible daily, spiritually (not just fleshly)
make Saturday / Sunday truly a day of rest with no tech/work
do 1:1 with kids and wife as often as possible to simply listen
Walk or workout with my wife weekly (failing at this right now)
curious: what are your small commitments for business and life?
leaderpoint: small is the new big.
Often we move so fast that fundamentals are neglected. Just like slow-food v fast food, authenticity in culture is intentional and "slow" so that people build trust and a shared vision. You've guided your team to intentional authenticity - this is a true differentiator that directly affects service delivery.
