so last week we decided that we have to have clear statements on what we do, why we do it, and how we do it.
well, here is what we came up with for GTM Partners:
Purpose (eternal): To do the best work of our lives each and every day
Vision (why): Become the go-to for go-to-market
Mission (how): On a mission to make go-to-market simple
now you can probably see that there is nothing snazzy about it - well maybe a little, if you know the world of go-to-market.
but the bigger point here is that most companies spend an inordinate amount of time creating statements that are COMPLETE but not CLEAR.
i for one, refuse to do that, ever again!
your purpose, mission, and vision must be memorable, repeatable, and portable.
let’s say that again:
your purpose, mission, and vision must be memorable, repeatable, and portable.
that is what makes it sticky.
here is what we plan to do to make sure these don’t dust in some file/folder:
we plan to start our meetings by sharing this with each other when we meet
we want to make it part of our daily mix - from our website, email to contracts
make business decisions with these 3 statements as our north star
on a personal side:
as the school comes to an end for the summer holidays, both my kids are doing well in their studies but what I love about the Christian Covenant School they go to is that they also give them character certificates.
My daughter got the certificate for exemplifying wisdom and my son came home with a certificate of self-confidence.
since our mission statement for our family is quick and simple, - Vajre always makes it thru, with God’s love, grace and truth. - i challenge myself and you to continue to focus on what matters more.
Yes, the grades are important but if they want to have an impact, then those character certificate will matter more.
so we are deciding the put the character certificates in their room as a reminder of what matters more instead of their academic excellence.
what do you think?
Leaderpoint: Clear is better than complete. Focus on creating clarity in your business and family and celebrate it like crazy when that happens. Ultimately, whatever you focus on, gets better!

Thanks, Sangram, for being inspirational and encouraging to me. You are an example of showing up with your full self... which I missed doing for decades, but now look to do every day in my own way.
I am seeing the work we do on helping B2B SaaS companies understand how & why their prospects buy... or don't... as "inter-company relational therapy"... bringing truth and clarity to what's important about our clients learning to serve their clients...
