week 71: who are you paying attention to?
paradox of working on whats important now and also on forever
thank you to over 11,000 of you who read this weekly and share with your friends and family for behind the scenes on building a million dollar business from scratch and beyond.
i also include a personal note in the end so i am grateful that you let me do that without judgement.
last week, i was invited 7th year in a row to speak at inbound.
12,000 people showed up at the event and even though i wasn’t the keynote, i got to speak in front of thousands of people on how modern companies go-to-market.
the funny part of it, I got invited to do so.
when I think of it, most people would pay to be in that position to market their company and services.
for me, I got invited to do it.
someone asked, how’s that possible?
well, simply put, if you consistently put yourself out there and add value to people and their work, you will get recognized.
it’s one thing to pay and get attention in front of your audience, it’s another, to get invited because you do give attention to your audience.
the later will always drive better outcomes.
on a personal note, i have travelled back to back last week and then again will be traveling this week. i have 6 more travel trips coming up this year and over time i know that is going to take a toll on me and my family.
then on Saturday (yesterday), i spent 4 hours doing taxes with my CPA which you know it’s not normal for me but it had to be done.
i got so exhausted, that I literally wanted to just sleep ( not getting younger as they say).
but let me also be honest, i enjoy my work.
there is joy of doing something meaningful.
there is joy of adding value to others and my team.
truth be told, this is hard work but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
the prayer I have for me and my family is to keep us united like our family mission statement, which says:
Vajre’s always make it thru, with Gods love, grace and truth.
i am going to need a lot of grace and I need to love my family even more during this time for their patience.
ultimately, I remember someone saying- you can have everything in life, but not all at the same time.
this time for me is to grind and not loose sight of the future.
at the same time, i recognize that i have to find a way to pull back in time in order to lead myself and the team better.
i have to learn to give attention to my audience, my family and my team.
Leader point - focus on what’s important now but don’t lose sight of what’s important forever.
Wow! I love you leadership tip: "Leader point - focus on what’s important now but don’t lose sight of what’s important forever. " For me, that's my family. - Forever!
