thank you to over 11,000 of you who read this weekly and share with your friends and family for behind the scenes on building a million dollar business from scratch and beyond.
i also include a personal note in the end so i am grateful that you let me do that without judgement.
as we roll into the 3rd year of building GTM Partners, i am learning the distinction and need for these two phrases.
i have to be constantly reminded that every decisions we make, it’s a combination of matter of fact and matter of faith.
for example:
should we launch a new product line? there is no data. most of it is based on gut so that’s matter of faith but also there are some hints along the way that helps us take the plunge
should we hire someone early? there is typically a need but there may not be cash flow to support it fully. still we have data now that we need help, so we have to have faith that when this person joins, our cashflow will improve
what about that crazy idea? it’s so hard to take your head out of the day to day and sometimes hour to hour tactical execution. but new ideas sometimes are exactly what works and brings energy to the business so that’s a matter of faith and fact that we have to reconcile with.
as the company matures, these decisions of matter of fact and matter of faith are intertwined.
the recognition that it’s both is a healthy thing.
i am learning to not cook up stories and just recognize and admit humbly that sometimes the decision we make are both, a matter of fact and faith all at the same time.
on a personal note, sometimes a man gotta get a pedicure.
if you haven’t in a while, do it.
this one is neither a matter of faith, not a matter of fact.
it’s simply a matter of love.
happy valentines day to you and your loved ones!
leader point: in business and in life, know why you are making decisions and no matter if it’s a matter of faith or a matter a fact, just recognize it and lean in.
We never have perfect information so it may be a gut feel ..with some directional data and discussion!
