as we approach the 3-month mark of the startup days, I am reminded of my days at Terminus and Salesforce and what we had in common that gave us the early boost.
it was simply one thing: Having a Point of View
let’s define PoV for a minute.
first-off, it’s not a logo or well-articualated statement.
it’s a philosophy that challenges the status quo and conventional wisdom of the industry you plan to play in.
for example:
Salesforce had a point of view - No Software (the demonized on-premise solutions)
Terminus had a point of view - Flip your funnel (we demonized the traditional funnel)
and as we launch GTM Partners, our point of view is still in the making.
it’s hard. it’s not natural.
most of us are always trying to do better than the nearest competitor.
But the power of PoV is that is not about being better. It’s about being different.
we are dabbling into a few things and quite frankly we are struggling:
Given the nature of the macro trend with layoffs due to high valuations and overzealous growth goals at all costs - maybe we own the narrative around “Efficient Growth”
Another thought is to align with our philosophy that GTM should be simple so how about “GTM made simple”
Since our vision is about being the go-to for go-to-market maybe we should start by teaching so how about “GTM operating system”
well - if you have ideas, drop them in the comments.
on a personal note:
as our kids are spending time and getting pampered by their cousins and grandparents in India, we all are realizing that we all needed to take a break and get pampered a little.
don’t you feel like that a little?
one thing that my wife, I and the kids did was get a Pedicure - it was simply a hilarious and super fun time. I never knew what my wife did at the pedicure but getting pampered by people doing your nails and massaging your feet, did feel good all the while resting on a full leather massage chair for an hour.
well - who woudn’’t like that so my PoV of a pampered pedicure is that everyone must have one in their lifetime. Book yours today at the nearest location :)
all jokes aside, here is the takeaway:
Leaderpont: Have a point of view that is different, not just better.
drop in the comments your or your compani’s PoV for kicks.
Love this and very aligned with Christopher Lochhead's thinking. Keep it simple for humans to understand has been my greatest struggle with my brand and POV Unhustle. Still in the works as we speak. Keep up the great work!
POV can be MTG - 'Markets to Go' for 'M'ore efficient, 'T'ransferable (repeat clients) and sustainable 'G'rowth!
(Demonises inefficient, non-repeatable, one time successes in market)
