thank you to over 11,000 of you who read this weekly and share with your friends and family for behind the scenes on building a million dollar business from scratch and beyond.
i also include a personal note in the end so i am grateful that you let me do that without judgement.
i love riffing on ideas.
but as business grows, i have to find the balance on working “in the business” versus “on the business”
leet me share the difference.
in the business means:
my calendar and team dictates my time
i am back to back and in transactional mode
most decisions are based on short-term goals
on the business means:
i can plan out some (not all) of my week to prioritize what’s most important
i can have time to think. period.
i can make strategic and long-term focused decisions
i find myself, candidly, mostly “in the business” mode and my goal is by Q3 to get into “on the business” mode.
no week or day is going to be perfect, but the pursuit of it, is what helps me do the best work of my life.
which ultimately is my goal of business for myself and my team.
on a personal note, Krish is learning to become a man.
he is a teenager and few of his behaviors got him in trouble, big time.
but then one day he truly cried out and repented which is so hard to do.
repentance is what brings us closer to God and closer to the people.
without true repentance, there is is no healing of relationships.
you can’t just say sorry and be done.
you have to truly repent (meaning turning back from your ways and walking in the opposite direction).
that is hard work and it took time and things had to get worse before we had breakdown moment.
sometimes i wonder if i am working in the family (just doing my job) or working on my family (leading, guiding, supporting, encouraging, disciplining).
the difference in the two ways is obvious.
the days or weeks, when i am a bystander adult in the house because i am too busy to make a correction, i can totally see things going off the rails.
ultimately, your family is your legacy.
leader point: in business and in life, work on it and not in it.
Good perspective!
They seem similar to "fire drills" (suck most of the energy!)
Are we working majority of the time on fire drills or making sure we have a business that is good at preventing fire drills, that allow us to fucus on what is important! Fire drills make us feel productive but it is exactly the opposite.....same as working in the business!
